We are delighted to report that we are now getting more flight arrival details from our students as flight restrictions are being eased in some countries.
We are now busy booking students safe taxis and making plans for safe Quarantine where needed. We having been working closely with our partner schools since March, and we all have a positive attitude towards welcoming our international students back and keeping them as safe as possible when they do come back.We have prepared a page for our parents and students to prepare them for a safe journey. We hope you find it useful.
Arriving at the airport and your driver
As part of our plan for a Covid-Safe September, we have been putting plans in place here at UK Tuition Guardians and to ensure that all the students will be picked by our own staffs or schools as possible. When our students arrive at the airport, things will be slightly different to normal. Students will need to maintain their distance of at least 1 metre from our staff and we requests everyone will be wearing masks, so it will be more important than ever for our students to look for our name boards. We ask our students to also wear their own masks or face coverings at all times wherever possible, as this helps to protect others around them, as well. We will still help students with heavy luggage if needed, but students will be asked to leave the airport as quickly as possible, to avoid unnecessary contact with others, and head to the car. Once at the car, both students and our staff should sanitize their hands before entering. Cars that we use will be regularly cleaned during the shifts, with hard surfaces that could harbour the virus being wiped down regularly with anti-bacterial and anti-viral products, so parents and students can be fully satisfied that the car will be as clean as possible.
In order to keep the cars clean and avoid infection risk, we do ask students to avoid eating in the car; if students need to stop for a comfort break or for food or drink this is fine, but we would again ask that these breaks are as short as possible to avoid unnecessary contact with other people. Each time the student and driver leave and re-enter the car they should sanitise their hands again.
Arriving for your Quarantine
We will take student to school or where need to be in quarantine.
The joining instructions will have sent to student beforehand.
Students who present with Covid-19 symptoms while in the UK
Whilst at school
We are liaising with schools to ensure that they will be isolating children who present with symptoms whilst in the boarding house. This complies with UK Government advice. It is not possible or right to place a symptomatic student into a host family.
Whilst in a host family
If a child presents with symptoms while in a host family, then the host family will take full care of the student and will arrange for appropriate medical assistance.
PPE
Individual schools have their own policies but in most schools students are being allowed to wear masks if they wish to do so. If you are worried about your school not allowing this, then let us know and we will speak to them for you.
Host family accommodation for the holidays
We are also making contingency plans to help ensure ALL students can remain in the UK for half term and Christmas if necessary. We will be liaising with schools and reviewing their plans for holidays and helping out where needed. Our host family network is also ready to help in the case of further school closures.
Testing
We think that if students can be readily tested, things will become so much easier. It is quite usual for students to get a temperature when they have been on the long journey from home to the UK; Usually it passes within a day or two as it is just a minor illness. In the current pandemic, we cannot be sure if students just have a common cold or Covid-19 until we test them.
Our simple message remains that as your guardian, we are here to help you.
